Mostly I guess that people are just too busy nowadays to find the time to meet new people. They don’t like the thought of meeting a stranger from an online site. After all you never really know who these people are. Hey they could be a potential stalker!!

I started thinking about it logically rather than emotionallyand summised that we actually pay for everything nowadays…..we have house cleaners, accountants, personal trainers, purely because we are so busy. So I guess what I am saying is why not pay a professional company to actively seek out a genuinely good match!

Let’s face it life is far too short so who cares what people think! You know… it takes more courage to join with an agency and actively do something with your love life than to talk negatively about something you have no personal experience with.

So in essence what I think I am telling myself and anyone who wants to listen or read is this……. if you have no love life it won’t just fall into your lap. Do something about it. Be pro active and don’t let opportunities and life pass you by!

Feeling a little bored a week or so ago I ventured into the world of RSVP.com, what a huge mistake that was. I have to say that I think there is a lot of strange people out there and it is all a bit scary! I changed my profile somewhat and didn’t put a photo on so as not to be recognized. In 10 days I received over 20 contacts from men from all over including Bunbury and Melbourne! Nobody remotely suitable, I met one guy for coffee who was a senior policeman for 25 years, studying law and seemed decent enough however he proceeded to tell me the entire story of his complex divorce and life. I couldn’t get away soon enough.

No. 2 and I corresponded by email for several days, had 2 phone calls and met for dinner last night. He is also a little strange in person surprise surprise, however I feel a little uneasy about him, told him we could be friends only and now have to extract myself very carefully from that situation. Needless to say I removed my profile and won’t go back there.

Telling you this Deb as I spoke with a male friend of mine who has had similar experiences and thought this would be a great ad campaign for you to get people who are normal, there are a few of us around, and don’t want to venture into that very strange world of online dating. Much more security in having someone check out the prospective intros before you actually meet them. Just a thought as my head works that way. I know it has been difficult to get the more Professional types and I can see why they are a little bit frightened.

I know you are looking out for me so will wait to hear from you when “Mr Right” walks in.

Hi Debbie,

Michelle and I have been on 3 dates, 1st one for coffee which lasted 3 hours, 2nd one went for a movie, lunch and then for a walk and coffee. 3rd date went to see Fleetwood Mac concert it was awesome we both had a great time.

We will probably catch up again this weekend.

Hanging on to the past will not help attract someone new into our lives. If it’s over it’s over and a very important part of the dating process is letting go. Of course it is sometimes not possible to completely break ties especially when children or business connections are involved but where possible find a way to accept the break up without letting the past be a reason not to move forward. Deal with the emotional baggage and find a way to remove your ex interfering with your personal life.

Dating Rule 3

Understand your relationship expectations.
Are they realistic? We all have an idea about the type of person we want to be with. If you have been single and in the dating game for a while it’s probably time to re asses your expectations. If you’re the type of single woman to judge guy within seconds of meeting him or run through the checklist in your mind looking for perfection before you even accept a date its time to relax and reconsider your goals. Honestly I could go on with all the negative comments singles make about dating but really there just excuses. Dating should be a positive experience; it’s about numbers and about meeting as many interesting and eligible single as possible. If you’re going to meet Mr. or Mrs. Right you have to be prepared to follow dating rule 4, stay positive, have fun and stop focusing on the negatives.

Don’t be afraid
There are only two things that drive us and that are fear and love. So for singles that are not in committed, loving relationships its fear that often prevents them from finding love. Accept all dates and be open to second dates
When someone asks you out on a date say yes. If an opportunity to have a date presents it’s self in the way of a blind date say yes. Don’t try to analysis the date before its even happened. Some people would place this rule of dating the most important one to follow, after all its all about opportunities. What’s the worst that could happen? You spend an hour over coffee and find they are not right for you but with each date whether it’s successful or not you are one step closer to meeting someone that is right for you. Saying yes to a first date will ultimately be the only thing that will lead you to a second date and a third and so on.

Don’t be too quick to judge the date. Feeling attracted to someone is important and often attraction grows when we least expect it. If you had a date and felt no attraction but you chatted easily had things in common and genuinely liked each other then it is worth a second chance if you’re asked. Accepting a second date is just as important as accepting the first. It’s not a marriage proposal nor is it leading someone on but it is a good idea to make sure there is nothing there rather than miss a golden opportunity.

Learn how to attract
The law of attraction is often a simple gesture and the ability to flirt will make your encounters far more successful. Smiling and being friendly to everyone you meet is a great start. Good body language and positive energy will naturally attract people to you. Dating rule or not living your life without a bit of flirting would be pretty boring. Practise giving compliments and it will be easier to receive them. Smile even when you’re talking on the phone especially if someone else has arranged the date. Look your date in the eyes and focus your attention on them.

The Do’s

DO always be on time. If you are detained make sure you exchange phone numbers to keep your date informed.

Why: The first date can be a nerve racking experience – sitting there wondering if he or she is going to turn up is very uncomfortable. Once you get off on the wrong foot it’s hard to get back on track.

DO dress to impress. We all know first impressions are everything yet why do so many people make this fundamental mistake?

Why: If you arrive to meet someone for the first time looking like you just couldn’t care your date will assume just that. We are human and actions speak louder than words. Act like it is important to you and you won’t need so many first date experiences. Men should be clean-shaven and ladies wear some make-up at the very least. Now don’t misunderstand me: You should never misrepresent yourself or wear something that just isn’t you but if you don’t get your first impression right you’ll never get a second chance, and imagine meeting someone you really like and never getting a chance to get to know them. It is one of the biggest mistakes of dating and almost impossible to fix once the damage is done.

DO listen to what your date has to say with mutual respect. Look them in the eyes when you talk.

Why: Displaying bad body language, like looking at your watch or around the room or interrupting is just plain rude. Why: Nobody likes to walk away feeling used and you don’t want to send the wrong signal.

DO Thank your date politely for coming to meet you. Smile and wish them good luck.

Why: Better to leave with someone feeling positive towards you. Remember they will give feedback to the agency, friends and family and you’re more likely to attract the opposite sex with sugar than spice!

DO Be yourself:

Why: Even though you may be nervous it’s important to be yourself, don’t try to make out that you’re someone you’re not. After all if your date doesn’t like you for you then they are not the right person for you.

DON’T leave someone hanging.
